EPTC Development & Performance Programme

At Elsternwick ​Park Tennis Centre we offer a more advanced programme for developing juniors. Our facility offers eight brand new, tournament standard mod-grass courts, a highly experienced coaching team, professional restringing services & fitness classes in our renovated studio space.

Our programme is divided into two categories; Development & Performance. The Development side is for children from the age of four years old through to teens. This programme is suitable for children that want to take their tennis to the next level and potentially strive towards getting into our Performance programme. The Performance programme is for the clubs top performing Green & Yellow ball players. See below for more information.

Development Programme

This programme is by invitation only and is designed for any player from Red through to Yellow ball who are looking to compete regularly in tournaments and matches and take their tennis to the next level.

Criteria
Our key criteria for being invited into the program is:
1. Players must be able to consistently serve, rally and score.
2. Players must play at least one tournament per term (internal or external).
3. Players must play in one of our bayside teams.
4. Maintain a good level of fitness.
5. Good work ethic and competitiveness.
6. Ability to listen and follow instructions.

What kind of competitions are there Development Players?
We run our own club competition each term for yellow ball players from intermediate through to development & performance.
We also encourage players to play external tournaments outside of the club which you can find on the Tennis Australia’s website.

Performance Programme

This programme is by invitation only and is designed for our top performing Green and Yellow Ball players. These classes are our highest level and for players who have high ambitions for their tennis career and are ready to train like an athlete.

Criteria
Our key criteria for being invited into the program is:
1.    Players must be able to show a high variety of skills and shots consistently using various spins & placement.
2.    Players must play at least one external tournament per term.
3.    Players must play in one of our bayside teams or for Bayside Pennant.
4.    General athletic ability and maintain a high level of fitness.
5.    Outstanding work ethic and competitiveness.
6.    Ability to listen and respect for coaches & other players.
7.    Players must commit to two squads and one private lesson each week.
8.    Players must attend our weekly fitness class to work on their physicality and injury prevention.
9.    A positive attitude on and off court must be obtained all the times when at the club or representing the club. Any bad behaviour will result in further action and possibly losing their place in the programme.

Head - good decision making and problem solving; players stay focused and find ways to win
Heart - resilient performer who competes unconditionally
Athlete - movement & athleticism positively influences the outcome of matches
Weapons - excellent technique & shot making consistent with game style
